Artist Statement
The work is a humorous and outlandish display of a mind that is fixated with the grotesquely enchanted. Sculptures and paintings are supplemented with found objects, toys from childhood, gifts, crafting supplies, and polyester plants. Finding and capturing a mystical humor in the everyday so it may be evoked again. The unnatural becomes the supernatural and gaudy materials become sacred objects. Images are portals, the buffoon a deity. The mundane is transformed into surreal expressions of identity that are perpetually pliable and gender is under constant scrutiny.
